Chicago DCA Theater introduces INCUBATOR; a series designed to support the creation of new work by emerging Chicago theater companies. Utilizing Chicago DCA Theater space and resources, participants explore new projects, develop and refine styles, and share their process with the public during a special showcase event. RTP will be working on Becoming Ingrid by Liza Lentini during this process.
Set in the dank, gray moors of Scotland, this fantastical excursion follows a loveable American screwball named Christine and her obsessive quest to be close to her favorite author, Ingrid. While narrating with the fervor of a wanna-be writer, the humorously skittish Christine attempts to appropriate Ingrid's character, and in the process is unwittingly forced to deconstruct her own illusions of love and happiness, unpredictably affirming the age-old proverb that you can't judge a book by its cover.
Becoming Ingrid is directed by James Whittington and features April Taylor, Jeff Taylor, Meg Harkins, Mikaela Siegel, Scott Allen Luke and Tori Ulrich.
This one night performance is open to the public and is free of charge. Please check out dcatheater.org for more information. This project is presented in association with Chicago DCA
Theater.
Check out our blog on the DCA website during this process.

Rubicon Theatre Project has teamed with writer Mishelle Apalategui (playwright of "Sit Tight," 2nd Annual Kassi Fest) and The 44th Ward Dinner Party in this new and unique performance event. Please be our guest at the first of what we hope will be many digest: events. digest: is a multi-disciplinary performance event that includes food, drink, and the ages-old social tradition of storytelling.
An original video installation (DANIELRYANVIDEO.COM) will accompany the performance each month. The performance will include scenes, monologues, readings, and the like from a specific genre of media or art. June's theme of cinema will include an evening of scenes, monologues, and readings from material pulled verbatim from famous film scenes...only there's a twist! We'll be shifting the tone or emotion of the scene using the exact words from the film to create an entirely new and entertaining scene.
